Di Marzio: Milan will soon open talks with Real Madrid over permanent deal for playmaker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon begin talks with Real Madrid over the permanent signing of Brahim Diaz, according to a report.

Brahim Diaz is now on his third season on loan from Real Madrid at Milan having initially joined for the 2020-21 season on a season-long spell and then coming back on a two-year loan deal in the summer of 2021.

The Spanish playmaker has enjoyed the trust of head coach Stefano Pioli throughout his spell but particularly this season where he has been the starting attacking midfielder more often than not despite the signing of Charles De Ketelaere for over €30m.

As Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Sky (via MilanNews), Milan will get in touch with Real Madrid in the next few days to discuss the permanent purchase of Brahim Diaz.

Reports at the time of Brahim re-signing in 2021 suggested there was an option to buy as part of his loan but this was always denied by Spanish sources, so some negotiating will likely be needed for him to become a permanent Milan player.

  1. Another sh*tty move by Maldini, instead of Diaz, Doku or Gabriel. will be more useful to Milan, and if by some kind of miracle Diaz becomes consistent. Real come for him with buy back clause. A waste of time and money!!!

  2. Not a biggest fan, but 20M is a fair price for Brahim.
Especially with CDK still underperforming we need him as much as we need a new RW.

All the people now saying how Milan will just waste money on him will be criticizing Maldini next year if he lets Diaz go and he explodes somewhere in La Liga.

      1. I can see your point, he is not setting the world on fire rn.
But I think there’s still a lot improvement potential for him. He is still only 23, with tons of expirience, and in my view his improvement is slow but visible and in the right direction. He has great technique, but he needs to improve his passing a lot (which he slightly did lately)

        1. He has shown little – if any – growth in Milan. With 20M€ Milan could possibly find a better / more ready player. I like the guy but he’s just not living up to the expectations.

          1. “Well we are talking about 20M, not 120M
Expecting a star is a little much, no?”

I’m talking about potential. Not current value.
