AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders will be doing battle against one of his old teammates tonight as he gets ready to face Sam Beukema, a report highlights.
As pointed out by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two former AZ Alkmaar players grew up together in the Netherlands and left the club at the same time.
They first joined together at FC Twente as youngsters and were then reunited at AZ. Social media posts show that the two players are great friends and it will be a moment of pride and reflection for them to take the field against one another in a new league.
The pair were only born 25 kilometres apart from one another and both will be desperate to come out on top tonight at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
It is the first game of the season for both teams, so there is added desire to put on a big display.
