AC Milan will now turn their attentions elsewhere after Lyon announced the renewal of Maxence Caqueret’s contract, according to a report.
It was confirmed via a statement on Lyon’s official website that Caqueret has extended his deal with them until 2026. RMC Sport reported last month that the 22-year-old has received a good offer to extend but was reflecting on his future after receiving a bid from Milan.
According to what is being reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan were only interested in signing the young Frenchman if the opportunity arose to land him in a cut-price deal in the event of no agreement over a renewal.
He adds that Caqueret was ‘never a priority’ for the Rossoneri management who are now instead focused on defining the Renato Sanches negotiations with Lille, as his is the main target to bolster the midfield department with Franck Kessie’s exit now imminent.
