AC Milan could well undergo a revolution of sorts in the right wing department with numerous outgoings and signings possible, a report claims.
MilanNews report how the showings so far this season from Messias and Saelemaekers have led the management to consider an overhaul of the right flank, with none of the current options sure of a stay.
Samu Castillejo: The Spaniard refused various options last summer and is firmly out of Pioli’s plans, with a contract expiring in June 2023. In the summer he will leave permanently and there are several interested clubs in Spain, with his future now seemingly written.
Alexis Saelemaekers: Saelemaekers has – together with Sandro Tonali – the most league appearances of any Milan player with 33. His growth this season though appears to have stagnated, and an important investment on a new winger could mean that the Belgian does not settle for a supporting role and might head elsewhere. Milan could score a good capital gain with a sale.
Junior Messias: If the aforementioned due were to leave, then the Brazilian could be bought permanently. Crotone have been relegated to Serie C and the Rossoneri management could also be able to snatch a discount on the option to buy. Messias would also be more accepting of a back-up role.
Marco Asensio: The first of the targets mentioned is Asensio, and the Spaniard is a name who would also bring a considerable international experience to the team as well as the guarantee of goals and assists. At the moment there is nothing advanced but thanks to the excellent relations with Real Madrid, Maldini will try to make an attempt. A lot will also depend on the player’s will.
Domenico Berardi: The Sassuolo winger has shown he can make a difference in Serie A as he has double figures both in goals and assists this season. However, the €30m requested by Sassuolo is considered excessive. If the request were to drop then the Rossoneri would be ready.
