Franco Mastantuono is continuing to generate headlines with his performances for River Plate, and AC Milan have their eye on him.

According to MilanNews, European football is getting to know Mastantuono more and more. The 17-year-old talent at River Plate is enchanting in the Argentine league and is attracting the attention of the big clubs.

Last summer, Milan were linked with a move for the teenager. Geoffrey Moncada has been following him for some time and has him on his short list, the report confirms, but now there might well be a lot more competition to land him.

Mastantuono has started the 2025 season with three goals and two assists in 12 appearances for River. His latest goal has rightly gone viral: a wonderful free kick in the Superclasico against Boca Juniors, his first in the iconic fixture.

According to what Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is reporting, Los Millionarios are protected by a release clause of €41m in the contract of the young talent. A number of clubs will probably have no issues paying that, if his current form continues.

Will Milan be among them? At present there is still an awful lot to be defined, such as who the new sporting director will be and what might change regarding the head coach. Only then will the strategy be clearer with regards to the mercato.
