Repubblica: Milan ask for ‘San Donato clause’ in San Siro purchase plans

This morning, the cost for AC Milan and Inter to buy San Siro was revealed, but it seems the Rossoneri are looking to keep their options open.

The stadium debacle has been ongoing for the entirety of 2024, and there has been little progress made. Of course, there have been discussions about different prospects, but in terms of concrete steps forward, there have been few.

Whilst this is understandable given the magnitude of the decision, the discussions are not new, and in the past few years, there has been little evidence to give credibility to the current actions. However, reports that the Milanese clubs have been given a price to buy San Siro is a promising sign.

It was reported that for €200 million, the clubs will be able to purchase the stadium and the surrounding land. However, Milan are looking beyond San Siro, given they have already invested €40m into their own San Donato project.

La Repubblica’s report this morning – as relayed by Milan Press – states that discussions have stalled because of the Rossoneri’s interest in a ‘San Donato clause’, which would allow them to keep another path open for the future. Given a decision is expected next week, there must be clarity found and delivered quickly.

  1. What kind of journalism is this. A clause..what clause? They own the land so if they stick with San siro they sell it, if not they use it. Who’s the clause with the mayor of San donato or beppe sala. It’s not a lease option unless we haven’t paid the 40m. What a confusing, nonsensical article
