GdS: Milan should announce key renewal before Sassuolo game and complete 1.5 year cycle

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are soon expected to announce that Stefano Pioli has signed a contract that will see him remain as head coach beyond the end of the season, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how CEO Ivan Gazidis will return to Milan tomorrow after being in New York for some medical checks and from there the parties will formalise Pioli’s contract renewal.

The paper claims it will be a two-year deal extension (therefore until 2024) with a salary worth €3m net per season plus bonuses and the official signature should arrive before Milan-Sassuolo which will take place on November 28 at San Siro.

The renewal has been talked about and agreed in principle for some time now but the club are waiting for Gazidis to return to Milan because they want the management to be complete for such a big moment. Interestingly, it was a match against Sassuolo back in July 2020 when Milan announced they were keeping Pioli and nt hiring Ralf Rangnick.

It would certainly close a cycle that has lasted a year and a half but will continue after that. Having initially been brought in as an interim head coach, now nobody can argue that Pioli deserves to lead the team forward.
