Mundo Deportivo: Milan willing to satisfy Leao’s salary demands in bid to keep him

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan seem willing to satisfy the requests of Rafael Leao in order to secure him for the long term, according to a report.

Mundo Deportivo in Spain write that Milan know Leao is a ‘key piece of the puzzle’ to the extent that he might well be the most valuable player in the squad, and of course as part of that they want to extend his contract beyond the current June 2024 deadline.

Negotiations have been at a standstill for a while because the parties have not agreed on the economic aspect, with the winger expecting to earn €7m net per season. The Rossoneri have decided to ‘cave into his requests’ to close the deal as soon as possible, as per the report.

In recent weeks, the club and Leao’s agents have been contacted by several top clubs regarding his situation, and that is why things have sped up so much.

One of the issues surrounding the renewal is Leao’s debt to Sporting CP, and he has requested that Milan cover this debt to move forward with his renewal. The player’s role in the team is so significant that they’re willing to agree to this demand.
