Tuttosport: Milan examine profile of Freiburg star Schlotterbeck but are unconvinced

By Mitchell Wilks -

A move for SC Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck was considered but now appears to be off with Milan not convinced by the defender, according to one report.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) state that the ‘profile’ of the Freiburg defender has not convinced Milan who have decided to move on from pursuing him in their search for defensive reinforcement.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs throughout Europe, including Bayern Munich. And with Milan searching for cover to replace the injured Simon Kjaer, Schlotterbeck had been mentioned as a potential target.

Any potential deal with Freiburg now seems unlikely, however, and with the end of the January window approaching, it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri will capture a defender as hoped.

A loan signing seemed to be priority for Milan who have been linked with out of favour defenders such as Eric Bailly and Nathan Ake, but a younger signing is also a possibility.
