GdS: Milan sit second in Serie A table for investments – the figures RedBird are responsible for

RedBird get a lot of criticism for their handling of AC Milan, but a report today has shown that they are putting the money in.

A lot is said about RedBird, Gerry Cardinale, and the general management relates to money. Whether it is underpaying, overpaying, or focusing on other areas completely, everything normally boils down to one thing: the amount that the club invest.

The sale of Tijjani Reijnders, understandably, set off the alarms again, especially due to the timings. With the Rossoneri promising that he would stay too, the fans became frustrated with the situation, and things became more toxic.

Those feelings will probably remain, but a report has shown that there is investment in the club.

RedBird’s investment

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Milan Press, only one ownership group has invested more into their respective club than has been invested into the Rossoneri. That would be Roma’s Friedkin ownership, then in second is the Diavolo.

So far, there has been €825 million invested in Milan from Cardinale and co., which is more than €100m more than third-place Juventus. In fact, of the estimated €6 billion invested in Serie A clubs, the Rossoneri’s ownership makes up nearly a sixth of that total.

To make up this figure, there is the €600m spent to buy the club, raised in capital, then another €170m spent to repay the vendor loan in part to Elliot Management.

Investment is there, it seems, but the questions will remain…

  1. Yeah, I mean people will still hate. Unfortunately Milan’s problems are more nuanced than “profiteering Gerry”. The money has been spent, it’s just that it’s been spent poorly. Cardinale is not involved in the day to day running of the club, and that’s OK because many owners these days aren’t. The problem is the people who are running the club day to day. Furlani clearly has no clue what he’s doing, Moncada is not as good as Massara (or at least should be demoted back to being solely head scout), and Ibrahimovic is a novice with an unclear role. Cardinale needs to realize that that’s where the problem lies. And I’m guessing that Furlani was also the one behind the firing of Maldini and Massara. He is the one who wants “control”. If Cardinale gets rid of Furlani in exchange for an experienced football man as CEO or whatever his title is, returns Moncada to head scout, limits Ibrahimovic to being his pet, and lets Tare and Allegri run the first team, things will improve.

    1. You’re barking up the wrong tree. The make-up of the squad, which remains the biggest problem, is largely down to Moncada and the coaches. Furlani is a pen pusher, he doesn’t know anything about football. Furlani is to blame when deals break down, as is the case for Mike and Musah. He’s also partly responsible for the hire of Tare. That’s what you blame him for, but, again, the biggest problems i.e. the lack of Italians and the bad mercatos, that’s on Moncada and the coaches.

  2. There is no context to the information in this article?

€825m what do you mean? Spent on what? Over what time frame?

It’s not been 825m on players in the last 3 years!

So if Milan have the highest turnover in Italy but make a small profit are you including everything they spend to run the club? Money that is recouped by selling tickets etc?

    1. It’s basically the money spent by redbird to get the club. It has nothing to do with football.

600M€ raised in capital to acquire Milan.
170€ reimbursed so far to Elliott through the vendor loan.
      55M€ for the stadium project.

    2. Stop playing video games all day, there’s more expenses to a football club than just transfer window, are you like 15 year old? wtf dude

Your magical owner who will come in and outspend EPL club doesnt exist, Milan would be banned out of Serie A and Europe if they do that without the proper revenue, or do you think its that easy? Already forgot the damage the Chinese did?

You really must be 15 then

      1. What on earth are you on about?

I’m simply seeking clarity as to what the numbers in the article are referring to. Perhaps read again.

Clearly you are a but hurt Gerry boy who instantly goes on the defensive, regardless of topic.
Why don’t you take his c0ck out of your mouth, wipe the come from your eyes and read with clarity.

        You must be 75 LOL

      2. – Your magical owner who will come in and outspend EPL club doesnt exist, Milan would be banned out of Serie A and Europe if they do that without the proper revenue –

        it does exist!
elliot chose to sell to redbird because they had a better chance of owning Milan again if redbird could not pay their remaining debts, than if they sold to PIF.
        banned from serie-a and europe?
that doesn’t happen to juve, and also in other leagues like psg, city or chelsea.
        why?
because football, and those corrupt organization named fifa & uefa are all about money!
and redbird don’t have it, or if they do, they don’t spend it on the club but on themselves.

it’s not about being 15, it’s about getting your head out of your @ss

  3. another pr news released by and for Redbird. Their results are abysmal so I don’t see the point of this article

  4. Spent…..how much of what was spent came in already from our operations? How much was to acquire the team?

They haven’t spent more than 40 million in one calendar year out of pocket. This is misleading. Teams fighting relegation in the Premiership have more of transfer budget than us. 104 million in wages isn’t a lot either.

    1. yeah because the bottom club in EPL gets more money than the Serie A winners and more stadium revenue too, are you too dumb to look that up or what?

  5. Problem being If Mr Cardinale had any idea or credibility then Furlani would have been sacked rather than given more power.

    1. Can’t sack Furlani. He’s there because RedBird still owes a ton of money to Elliott.

That’s the big irony here. Furlani has no clue what he’s doing yet he’s untouchable.

Remember during the power struggle back in the spring when he flew to NYC with a few lawyers and Gerry came out publicly after and said Furlani calls the shots?

  6. The problem is not with Milan, it’s from the people who control football….sports are rigged in so many ways!! Like I’ve said, SO MANY WAYS!!

  7. This only shows the amount they spent to acquire the club and reimbursements towards Elliott. RedBird net spend on transfers is 40 million a season.

Here, I’ll give you an actual fact. A fresh one too. Gerryboys look away now.

The value of AC Milan squad decreased by -€163m to a new total of €438m, coming in second behind Manchester United. This analysis was done on a worldwide scale.

    1. Your usual lies and done without context, it’s the same case for other clubs. Stop being a Ted, Ted.

      Milan €121m in, €51.30m out
      Inter €76.15m in, €14.24m out
      Liverpool €42m in, €47m out
      Newcastle €68.2m in, €89.55m out

      2023-2024t
      Milan €126.88m in, €71.27m out
      Inter €72.5m in, €127.03m out
      Liverpool €172m in, €60.7m out
      Newcastle €148.1 in, €44.6m out

      2023-2025
      Net Spend (€m)
      Milan €125.31
      Liverpool €106.3
      Newcastle €82.15
      Inter €7.38

That’s not a net spend of €40 million a season, that’s a net spend of -€60 million a season AND, it’s a similar case for other clubs. As usual, you don’t have a point.

      1. Everyone is giving you facts backed by numbers but you disregard them and keep living in your own delusion. Keep it up but leave me out of it.

  8. It has been said, on paper we have a very good team.
The problem is the personalities of these guys, not coming together as one.

  9. Why you spend so much money for so useless peope? Buy more italian players like maldini, gatuso, pirlo or pipo.. 😉

  10. Redbird pay more money for those players who stay long time for our club. Why you pay so much money for so nonsense player like before jao felix or others and you wont pay more money for theo or mike?

  11. This clown (Gery and his redbird) are just elliot puppet. Soon the club will fall to elliot again. Furlani will make that happen , he is elliot agent.Nothing will be changed as long as elliot and whoever their puppet / doll still control ACM.

  12. yeah they bought land with a chunk of the 825m, and how many players did Milan sell vs Juve? Bet the net transfer spendings will be way lower than most of the bigger Italian clubs

    1. Wrong.

      2023-2025
      Milan €247.88m In, €122.57m Out
      Juventus €295.45m In, €177.76m Out
      Napoli €271.47m Signed, €185.00m Out
      Inter €148.65m In, €141.27m Out
      Atalanta €193.76m In, €271.32m Out

      2023-2025 Net Spend
      Milan: –€125.31m
      Juventus: –€117.69m
      Napoli: –€86.47m
      Inter: –€6.62m
      Atalanta: +€77.56m (profit)

  13. “So far, there has been €825 million invested in Milan from Cardinale and co.,…To make up this figure, there is the €600m spent to buy the club, raised in capital, then another €170m spent to repay the vendor loan…”

Based on the article itself it seems the effect of investment is overstated. Most ppl would consider investment into the purchases of players different from simply buying the club. I’m not too fond on how they did their calculations as it made it seems like it was money spent on the squad directly from the owner. If we’re including what was spent to buy the club and the loan that only leaves around 55m (825-770) of which most could be made up of the Futuro and costs associated with the potential ‘new’ stadium. In terms of direct investment by the owner’s pocket into the squad it’s virtually zero. It’s been self financing transfer windows and budgets. It also means merry go rounds with players in and out of the team over several windows with no real plan or project.
