Sky: Milan set limit in Leao talks as Chelsea, PSG and LaLiga teams observe

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a limit in mind regarding the salary they will offer to Rafael Leao in order to try and secure his renewal, according to a report.

Speaking on Sky (via MilanNews), Manuele Baiocchini took stock of the contract situations that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are currently grappling with, including the most difficult one which is that of Leao.

The journalist claims that Milan do not want to exceed €6m net per season if they are to extend the Portuguese winger’s deal, and it a complicated situation because there are some top clubs on him such as Chelsea, PSG and even some LaLiga teams.

What filters from Milan is the usual optimism, but at the same time also the awareness of how difficult it will be to battle through all of the obstacles ahead and finally get to a situation where all parties are happy for Leao to put pen on paper.

  1. This is obvious. This will end the same as every one before him. Unfortunately we have to sell, then invest in Mudryk to replace him. Then we need to focus on RW and ST

  2. I seriously doubt Milan want to renew Leao.
If Milan wanted to give Leao what he is asking they would’ve done it long before the World Cup.
Now Milan are just waiting for Leao to have a good performance during World Cup, so his price can raise.
I’m perfectly fine with that. What I won’t be is losing Bennacer

    1. Even if Milan had offered 7M€ before the WC, do you honestly think Leao, his father, his agent(s) etc. would have agreed? Nope. Hell no. They want as much money as possible and everybody knows it that it’s not Milan who can give it to them.

It’s all about the money. Just read the interview of his father. He doesn’t say a word about the clubs, managers, conditions etc. Nope. All about the money.

      1. It’s basically game over. We should have sold last summer. I think they should sell in January if they can, but I’m sure there is a calculus regarding qualifying for the CL in play, so they probably won’t. So it will all come down to the knife edge of selling him at a discount this coming summer, probably in the 50-60m range, and hoping he just doesn’t decide to see out his contract. Ironically, the money he owes to Sporting might actually help us in that sense, compelling him to accept a transfer to whatever team comes calling and meets his contract demands. The silver lining is that we may already have his replacement in the pipeline and nobody seems to be talking about it…Chaka Traore.

  3. Sell is good option now in January. Napoli and Juventus are in better shape. I hope Napoli win. In Champions League we achieved a goal. And in Coppa we are competitive. If this team without Leao dont reach 4 position, then, many of them need to be sold in summer. If we sell Leao for 100mil, in January, club can buy 2 promising players, and have money for contracts of all extended. In the same time club Will show all players that no one can blackmail the club and each player is easily to be replaced by better replacement.

  4. This report is classic Italian bs, no club or business that doesn’t have to is releasing to the press what contract details they are willing to offer.

    1. I read earlier from another source they are tabling a 7 million euro salary with bonuses and that is there last offer.

So yes. This is click bait
