CorSport: Milan ready to make a sizeable economic effort to convince Leao – the latest

Rafael Leao is currently on vacation and is trying to forget about the disappointment of the World Cup after Portugal lost to Morocco, while his future will soon become the subject of discussion again.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports. Leao’s renewal is still a puzzle that needs to be solved. The Rossoneri management are willing to make a greater economic effort than expected to secure the most talented player in their squad, therefore a bid worth around €6-7m net per season should be launched.

With that salary, Leao would become the highest paid player in the whole team. The updates between the parties continue constantly, in particular with the lawyer Ted Dimvula who was also recently at Casa Milan to talk about other clients as well as Leao’s situation.

Among all the economic discussions the real great obstacle to this negotiation still remains the fine to be paid to Sporting CP, which is a total of €19.5m and is jointly owed by the winger and his old club Lille.

Leao’s mind will have to be more focused than ever on the pitch, especially in January when Milan will resume Serie A action with four weeks that risk being decisive for their Scudetto hopes.

In 14 appearances in Serie A this season Leao has already registered 6 goals and 5 assists, a return that is not bad at all but can still be improved a lot. Leao’s potential for growth remains enormous, and the friendly on the 30th against PSV should see him return to action.
