MN: Maldini and Massara’s January thoughts outlined as summer budget is protected

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management adopted a clear strategy during the January transfer window, opting instead to lay the foundations for a more expansive summer mercato, a report claims.

MilanNews reports that Milan went into the window this month without the intention of just signing players in certain positions for the sake of it, and instead they realised that once the real target – Sven Botman of Lille – was unattainable in January, it was better to remain patient and work on securing him for the summer.

The budget available was rather limited and it will be substantially more in the summer, so Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara deemed it better to wait and keep the treasure for the summer, when the market is not intended to repair but to build and consolidate.

The current squad – at least in the thoughts of the managers and the coach – is sufficiently equipped to achieve the season target of a top four place. Of course the Scudetto battle still remains on for now, but the main thing is that the squad rests on concrete foundations and will be built upon in the summer.

    1. keep in mind that Milan is still being watch FFP .. you can’t just spend that much without a risk of being (re)punished by FFP ..

whatever spending we want to make have to be balanced by whatever income we are making .. and owner injection is not one of them ..
