GdS: Milan must not let takeover talk become a distraction during tense finale

By Oliver Fisher -

In many ways, the news of AC Milan’s potential sale could not have come at a worse time given the team are right in the heart of the Scudetto race.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) confirms that the Bahrain-based fund Investcorp are interested in buying Milan and discussions have already started with Elliott Management, but the Rossoneri are fighting for two big targets on the pitch and cannot afford any further distractions.

One cannot be surprised by the possible interest in the acquisition of Milan because since Elliott took office four years ago, the club’s financial situation has gone from dire to healthy in comparison to other clubs in Italy.

Today, Milan are not only filling the San Siro with fans who dream big, but above all they have largely restored the balance sheets and this positive situation from a sporting and an economic level ‘increases the appetite’ of foreign investors.

The timing may come as a surprise and perhaps it is eloquent that no comment has arrived from the owners, because the squad are in a battle for the Scudetto and to try and win the Coppa Italia too.

The prerogative for players and management is to stay focused, as Paolo Maldini stressed before the match against Genoa: “With six games to go, it is in everyone’s interest, including the club, to think about trying to win the title and concentrating on a semi-final of the Coppa Italia, which could be a great target.”

  1. No way in hell this takeover news not gonna affect the players performance.

A lot of the players have massive respect towards Pioli and Maldini and one of the biggest reason why they agreed to join Milan.

If this new company bought Milan then they can replace Pioli and Maldini whenever they want.

Heck, Milan could lost a lot of key players cause who knows how this new company gonna act towards other clubs who interested to buy Milan players like Mike, Tomori, Theo, Kalulu, Leao, Tonali, Bennacer, etc.
