CM: Milan target young Stade Rennais star as new deputy to Theo Hernandez

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have got Stade Rennais defender Adrien Truffert in their sights as they may opt for a new left-back this summer, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com reports that the departure of Dalbert – formerly of Inter and now with Cagliari – is one of the reasons for the explosion of Adrien Truffert, a 20-year-old left-back who is now starring for Rennes and is a mainstay of the French U21 national team.

Since he had a clear path to the starting spot at left-back 18 months ago, he has racked up 58 games including 5 in the Champions League, and he is attracting the attention of the big names in Europe.

Truffert is actually also attracting the watchful eye of the Belgium set up because Roberto Martinez has tentatively explored whether he has interest in playing for the Red Devils, but for now he is focused on the France U21s and Rennes, to whom he is bound by a contract expiring in 2025.

He has ended up on Milan’s wish list as a potential deputy to Theo Hernandez, especially given that Fode Ballo-Touré ‘is falling short of expectations’ and could be replaced.
