CorBergamo: Two potential Milan targets could leave Atalanta if they miss UCL qualification

By Euan Burns -

There is a chance that two very highly sought-after players could leave Atalanta in the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere di Bergamo (via Milan News), the two youngsters who are potential targets for AC Milan in the near future could be on their way out of the club in the summer.

Both Scalvini and Hojlund have been in very good form for La Dea this season and have lifted the team into the fight for Champions League qualification.

The report claims that if they do not finish in the top four, it will be hard for Atalanta to keep the defender and the striker.

Hojlund in particular could be of interest to Milan as they ar looking for a new striker to rotate with Giroud and eventually replace the Frenchman. Scalvini would represent the opportunity to have another Italian in the squad and could replace Simon Kjaer.

  1. Hojlund has been spectacular this year. Would love him but we’ll get priced out of that signing.

Scalvini is a remarkable player. He’s 19 until December 2023 and has been performing at Thiaw’s current level for basically the whole season. To think how much physical development is still left. A guy 194cm will usually take more time to develop as it takes longer to build strength.

Scalvini, Thiaw and Tomori in a back 3 would be impenetrable.

It’s also well past time we prioritise Italian talent. As a rule Italians are not a flight risk which is important when trying to build a world conquering project from a limited budget.
