CorSera: Milan and Juventus settle for a draw of little use – the derby vs. Inter becomes crucial

By Oliver Fisher -

There was great anticipation for last night’s match between Milan and Juventus as both sides really needed a win to get closer to their respective targets, but both came away disappointed.

As il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes, three points could have relaunched the Rossoneri in their Scudetto race while Atalanta’s draw against Lazio meant that the Bianconeri wanted the victory too to continue their charge back towards the top four, but in the end a draw was the result and it is of little use to both.

Stefano Pioli’s men are the ones that tried the most to win, but they did not create enough and now Milan’s road to the Scudetto is getting more and more complicated. Inter are four points ahead and still have a game in hand, so the derby scheduled for after the break is crucial.

Napoli have gone ahead into second place on goal difference while Juve remain seven points behind in fifth. The away side will be disappointed with how they played given they didn’t manage a single shot on target, something that hadn’t happened to the Bianconeri for almost three years, but there were no winners except the other teams around.
