MN: Milan travel to Verona with a fire burning and hope to extinguish new manager effect

There will be an intriguing match at the Bentegodi this weekend as AC Milan look to bounce back from yet more refereeing injustice against a team with a new manager.

MilanNews write how Milan have not always had the best of records against teams that have appointed a new boss, such as Gabriele Cioffi’s debut as Udinese boss in the 1-1 draw against Milan on 11 December 2021, and then Davide Nicola’s in Salernitana 2-2 Milan on 20 February 2022.

On Sunday Salvatore Bocchetti will manage Hellas Verona for the first time, and there will be new life, new motivations and a desire to make a point among the Verona squad as they welcome a Milan side looking to put the Chelsea game behind them.

Milan were also put in difficulty last season by Verona as well, having trailed 2-0 against the Gialloblu before winning 3-2 and then coming from a goal behind to win 3-1 at the Bentegodi in the reverse fixture.

Milan have their own fire burning inside though after referee Daniel Siebert’s decision on Tuesday night complicated the Champions League group stages, but that must be transformed into energy to combat the ‘new manager bounce’ that Verona might look to profit from.
