CM: Milan ‘very close’ to securing four important renewals – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management have not only been working on potential new signings but also on the renewal of four players considered key by Stefano Pioli, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan want to build a bright future where the Scudetto win of last season represents the first step rather than the end of anything, but they know that in order to do so they must continue to maintain the strong foundations of the project.

Renewals are key for this to avoid situations like the ones seen with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Franck Kessie and Alessio Romagnoli, and the extensions of Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Rade Krunic and Sandro Tonali are ‘very close’.

For the English centre-back and his French defensive partner, both are set to extend their current agreements until 2027. Tonali meanwhile should extend by a year with a pay rise to €3.5m net per season, and Krunic is also expected to pen fresh terms imminently too.

    1. They didn’t wait to negotiate with Donnarumma either, but the player and his agent kept on delaying the agreement for the well known reasons. So far neither Donnarumma or Kessie haf any benefit from this cinema, only their agents had more money in their pockets. The players signed for practically the same amount as what was offered to them by AC Milan

      1. Milan is freed from the financial burden called $umma. His agent can’t carry his pocket to the other world though.

      2. Donnarumma makes €12 million a year
Kessie makes €6.5 million a year
I’d say they are benefiting quite well.
And no it’s not true that they are getting the same amount Milan offered them.
Milan offered Donnarumma 8 mil, and I doubt they went any higher than 4.5 mil for Kessie.
Their current salaries are way too high.
Milan did good not extending them , I just wish they sold them a year early and get some money for them

        1. Well said @Coco – truth. Love how everyone now tries to spin it to try and make it seem positive that we lost those players for FREE. Donnaruma is a financial burden? To who @Yelnats24? PSG? Lol. I’m sure if you ask them they would say different. Financial, burden to Milan? Ya sure having an asset worth 100-150M at 21 yrs of age that you could have sold down the road is a burden lol. Funny how fans bash players for wanting their market value calling them “greedy” – as if in your life if another company came to you and offered to double or triple your salary you wouldn’t leave as well. Ya right. It’s business. Grow up and get over it. It’s a business when we cash in on a player (hauge) we bought for 4M and sell for 12M and it’s a business when a player leaves when we offer 8M and another club offers him (Donnaruma) 12M. Pretty simple.

  1. With the way those young players shocked everyone last season by winning the League and proving their pedigree theae management may had realised to late that rigid salary structure would come to hunt them in the future.

Hopefully the coming months don’t become very funny for the Rossoneri because the suitors from other clubs are going to be coming in hot and fast on our boys.

    1. Agreed @Alex Korami. If it doesn’t change we will lose most of them eventually and will be hard to attract anyone but young players to develop and older vets.

  2. I believe this 4 player will renew for AC Milan : kalulu, tomori, tonali, krunic. But im not sure if leao & bennacer. If AC Milan fail to renew them till this season end in 2023 ,i think they will be free in 2024 . Small chance to sell them if just one year left contract and they will use kessie tactic wasting time till market close
