Sky: ‘One last attempt’ – Milan want D’Amico and Italiano to lead new era

AC Milan intend to make one final attempt to hire Tony D’Amico from Atalanta, and they want to poach Vincenzo Italiano from Bologna.

Milan’s 2024-25 season is drawing to a close, and that in itself is a relief for all involved. The Supercoppa Italiana triumph was a brief ray of sunshine in a campaign that included a potential eighth-place finish, elimination from the Champions League by Feyenoord and a Coppa Italia final defeat.

One of the things they will have to make a call on is the head coach, with Sergio Conceicao almost certain to depart the club after just six months. The man who got the better of the Portuguese at the Olimpico – Vincenzo Italiano – is being mentioned with more frequency. This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport named him as the ‘strong candidate’ to potentially take over.

Manuele Baiocchini spoke live on Sky (via MilanNews) and he gave an update on Milan’s planning for the future, revealing the two main names for the sporting director and head coach position.

“On the subject of the sporting director, I believe that Milan wants to try to make one last attempt to convince Atalanta to release Tony D’Amico, who is the real objective of the Rossoneri. Otherwise, evaluations will be made, which is why CEO Furlani has not ruled out that the Milanese corporate structure will remain unchanged.

“As for the coach, one of the profiles that Milan has followed with the most interest during this season is that of Vincenzo Italiano. For two or three months they have been trying to understand if he could be the right coach for Milan.

“For now there has been no direct contact with him and his entourage, first Italiano wants to speak with Bologna, to whom he has given priority. If an agreement to move forward together is not found, then at that point new opportunities could arise and Milan could be one of these.

“However, at the moment everything is blocked by the sporting director issue, which is the fundamental step before choosing the replacement. of Conceiçao on the AC Milan bench.”

  1. What evaluations will be made? D’Amico is plan A, what are plans B and C? Say we fail to convince Atalanta and will go back to step 1? Damn, I wish I had a job like this. A year at Milan is 10 years on Earth. These people really have all the time in the world.

  2. Keep going after unavailable targets. Gotten you where so far exactly? Neither D’Amico nor Sartori would come to Milan in its current shape. And Why? Because Furlani & the clowns have made it so unappealing for anyone respectable to join.

    1. “Because Furlani & the clowns have made it so unappealing for anyone respectable to join.”

This. And while doing that, they’re selling all the players they possibly can. And accepting the very first offers.

      1. Yeah man, everyone will be sold and Milan will be relegated next season

for the next month or so the newspapers will give you orgasm everyday with the amount of bullsh*t they’ll print and you love it so much to hear it

Next year only Primavera will be left for sure

  3. Get Sartori. Pay Bologna to let him go.
They should not be cheap when picking a sporting director. A competent, qualified, experienced, well connected sporting director is more important than the players. Inter most important asset is Marotta, not Lautaro or Barella. Because even if Lautaro or Barella leave, Marotta can replace them properly.
Elliot went and hired a great CEO in Gazidis to run the club after the takeover. They paid Arsenal to let him go of his contract. They made a huge mistake by not doing that with the sporting department instead of hiring incompetent people. RedBird continues to do the same mistake.
Hire a competent director, tell him whatever budget he’ll have available and get out of his way.

    1. “Hire a competent director, tell him whatever budget he’ll have available and get out of his way.”

This is the only reason why we are without one.

      1. I don’t agree fully.
For next season, the budget is already determined, a new SD whoever is going to be isn’t going to be able to change the fact that we’re on a deficit because we’ve missed the UCL and Europa League. He should be however be able to determine the bugdet for the seasons after that and the salary caps (if there are ones).
The reason why we still don’t have a SD is because Cardinale&Furlani simply don’t want to actually give him power and autonomy. That’s what I think anyways.

        1. Exactly what I meant. It the “give him budget and get out of the way” that is the main reason why we don’t have SD. They will never let him operate freely.

  4. Sounds like a fng A class plan!!! Pray and wait, pray and wait and then beg and beg until the mercato is closing and then finally decide to “stay as we are”. Awesome!

The competence of our management is outshining everyone elses. 50 years from now people are still amazed how brilliant our current management handled everything. Sacking of Maldini, destroying the scudetto-winning team, turning us into a mid-table team and selling everyone with even the slightest talent but leaving player such as Musah & Emerson Royal to lead Milan into the new era. The era that will forever be known as: The Banter Era 2.0.

    It has began.

    1. Did you forget what happened in Maldini’s final season? Did you forget losing key players for nothing being an issue under that regime?

      1. It wasn’t the right path either but selling our best players to fix the budget deficit THE MANAGEMENT caused by buying wrong players and hiring the cheapest coaches is p1sssing into the fan’s cereals. A total FU to all of us. And the squad too,

  5. Don’t forget Allegri and Tare will you 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  6. Why in the world would sporting director of a 3rd placed team with ambition and coach of a team that just won coppa italia against us come to our joke of a club? Bunch of nonsence. We are really on our way back to banter era. Im sorry for Maldini really. This jokers really fkcd up years on putting AC Milan back to glory days in a matter of 2 seasons.

  7. Really don’t believe for Italiano… this is his first good sesson and I don’t see why we want him… he is same like Pioli, we need more. Even Alegri is more competent and with Sarri we have better chance for top 4 next year

  8. If we keep Puli and Tiji, Sarri might be the best option. That would mean most likely Leao and/or Theo would go. The former pair would do nicely in a more rigid system like Sarri’s or Pep’s (which is partly why Pep wants Tiji at City). With Sarri, you would only need a few enhancements to the squad to give him what he needs for the system. If they don’t find a SD it won’t matter which coach they get, the same rot will be there. Just another tense off-season where everything rides on a few decisions. August seems lightyears away.

  9. D’Amico if he really come, that is good. Huge booster for this team.

But Italiano, I think he just as same as Pioli level. We will get scudetto with him, but in european level, I am sorry, still not convincing for me.

Better recruit Simone Inzaghi, if next season he leave Inter. Or, we hire Gasperini, that is more make sense.

    1. Same as Pioli based on what? Go and check Italiano’s stats with Fiorentina, his Conference League standings with Fiorentina and Bologna stats this season after they sold him Zirkzee and Calafiori. Give me numbers.

Then go and check what Inzaghi won with Lazio before taking over Inter. Exactly. A cup coach he was.

Now no one is saying he’d be an instant hit. Could be a miss too. But that can happen with any coach. Italiano at least has some track record in Italy unlike our last two coaches.

So stop talking out of your a*s just because you don’t like the suggestion.
