CorSera: Milan far from their best but a win, clean sheet and top spot are achieved

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan took care of business at San Siro against Sampdoria, needing just an early goal from Rafael Leao to move top of the league with a 1-0 win.

Il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how the game on Sunday afternoon was far from an incredible game, but it was a much-needing victory and three points to overtake Inter in the table, even if the Nerazzurri have yet to play a game in hand against Bologna.

Stefano Pioli’s team did what was needed and they now want to take advantage of the fact that Salernitana and Udinese are waiting next, so there is an opportunity – on paper at least – to really start moving through the gears.

Yesterday’s victory against Sampdoria came after a match in which the Rossoneri did not show staggering brilliance, but they also scored early through Rafael Leao and were able to barely put themselves in any trouble with a solid defensive performance.
