In this news round-up, it’s certainly not all positive for Milan Women as their former player Deborah Salvatori has been diagnosed with cancer. The support from the club isn’t lacking, though.
In an emotional post on Instagram, former AC Milan Women’s player, Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi, revealed that she had recently been diagnosed with cancer. Salvatori Rinaldi states that the news was broken to her on February 20th through a phone call, where a doctor revealed that the tumour was malignant.
The former Milan forward has received much support since the diagnosis. In a gesture of goodwill, her current team, Ternana Women, has renewed her contract. Meanwhile, her former team, Milan, recently showed their support for the player before the first leg of their Coppa Italia game against Roma.

She’s also received support from several Milan players, both publicly and privately. The forward has since undergone surgery and will need subsequent therapy to treat her diagnosis.
During a Coppa Italia match against AS Roma, Milan fullback Alia Guagni succumbed to an unfortunate injury. The defender pulled a muscle while defending Milan’s goal and despite going down with a yell, the ref didn’t stop play, thus allowing Roma to score.
Subsequent evaluations after the game have determined that Guagni pulled a quadricep muscle in her left thigh. She will be out for quite some time and will miss Milan’s next match against Juventus.
The FIGC has confirmed that AC Milan will play Juventus this Saturday at 15:00 CET. Milan will play Juventus in what is known as the poule scudetto (‘title round’). The poule is a mini round-robin tournament where five teams compete against each other for both the league’s title and to play in next season’s Champions League.
The teams that finish in the top two of this competition will advance to Europe next season. The match between Juve and Milan will also be broadcast globally and without restrictions on La7.
