SM: Milan working on January deals for Chelsea winger and Lyon playmaker – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are at work ahead of the January transfer window to try and address some gaps in the squad, a report claims.

According to the information of our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, the Rossoneri management are keen on signing Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, who could both be allowed to leave by their two respective clubs.

For the Moroccan forward, Milan are trying to secure a six-month loan (paying a salary of €3m net – which would be half of his current wages) with the option of including an option to buy, or even a gentlemen’s agreement with the Blues to re-discuss his future of Ziyech once the season is over.

It is a different dynamic for Aouar, whose contract expires in June and he does not seem close to renewing with Lyon. Milan are ready to offer the Ligue 1 club a figure of less than €10m to try and beat the competition and bring the French playmaker to Milanello already this winter.

  1. I’m normally ok with skipping big investments in January but I think given all the uncertainties with Bennacer and the lack of sufficient quality after Tonali getting an early look at a potential replacement might be prudent.
