Tuttosport: Milan hoping the worst is behind Rebic and he blooms in the finale again

By Oliver Fisher -

Ante Rebic got his first goal for five months during the draw with Salernitana at the weekend, and the hope is that the worst is behind him ahead of the crucial phase of the season.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) points out, Rebic was missed during the time that he was out injured because the Croatian has unique characteristics in Pioli’s squad and he has a knack for stepping up in the second half of the season, having done so in each of the last two campaigns.

The recovery of Rebic – and not just to a position of being able to play but to have him at 100% and firing – is fundamental in this very tight final rush for the Scudetto.

In all likelihood, it will still be Olivier Giroud that gets the nod to start in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence, but after Rebic ended his scoring drought in Salerno he is now obviously a candidate to be the first alternative to the Frenchman.

Rebic’s goals and work rate will be greatly needed, both from the start and during the game, as an extra weapon in pursuit of the Scudetto.
