Milan’s mixed fate on matchday one shows Udinese clash must not be taken lightly

AC Milan will look to continue their positive recent record on matchday one as they host Udinese at San Siro tonight.

Milan have lost only one of their last 10 league matches against Udinese having won four and drawn five of them, however the one defeat in that stretch came on matchday one of 2019-20 when the Friulians beat the Rossoneri 1-0 on 25th August 2019 at the Dacia Arena with Rodrigo Becão’s goal.

In addition, this will be the sixth time Milan and Udinese will meet in round one of a Serie A season with one win for each side (for the Rossoneri it was back in 1950). There have been three draws in the five previous such meetings.

Milan haven’t drawn any of their last 10 Serie A matches on matchday one (W5, L5), with their last tie coming back in 2011-12 as a 2-2 against Lazio at San Siro began the title defence.

Finally, following wins against Bologna in 2020-21 and Sampdoria in 2021-22, the Rossoneri could win three round one games in a row in Serie A for the first time since 1987 to 1996 (10 in a row in that case).

  1. I don’t feel good about this match.

Our midfeild is limping, and this management do not want to spend….this will definitely binder this team at some point, tonali and benaceer don’t have strong legs and out backup is trash……I hope we don’t get surprised

  2. It’s pretty sad that the season is starting and thus far we have only made two signings. Still have yet to replace Kessie and Romagnolli. I pray that it changes and we can at least bring in their replacements but it seems less likely by day. M&M trying their best but with the limited budget given to them by ownership we cannot expect them to perform miracles each time. One major injury to one of our starters and we may be in for serious trouble. Last season is not this season. Every team has strengthened especially Juve and Inter, even Roma. Origi to replace Ibra and adding CDK was great but more is needed. Let’s see if we can get a few more quality players in the next 2 weeks – but if we are forced to use players like Krunic, Gabbia, etc…for long stretches of the season gesoecually playing every 3 days due to WC) we may be in for a rude awakening. Good luck to the boys today. Forza Milan!

  3. This milan owners are greedy and stingy ,they want profits and do not want to spend a dime ,imagine no good player with experience and exposure wud want to come to milan looking at their salary structure ,and they keep waiting on cheap players like vultures
