Mirante discusses ‘important’ Napoli clash: “We need a group reaction”

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the important game between AC Milan and Napoli, Antonio Mirante spoke to the media about the Rossoneri’s situation. After two consecutive defeats, they need to bounce back with a win tonight.

Stefano Pioli has made one change to the starting XI, which you can see here, bringing in the captain Davide Calabria. The manager probably would have liked to rotate a bit more, but several absences have made that impossible.

Marco Sportiello is one of the injured players and that means Mirante is the second-choice goalkeeper currently. Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, the veteran spoke about tonight’s game and Milan’s struggles up front.

On the game…

“A special match, especially given the rivalry that exists, which is beautiful and of a high level. Tonight is an important opportunity to overturn the last two games. These are games that are nice to play and nice to win.

“The match prepares itself, there is no shortage of stimuli; for me playing for Milan is the necessary stimulus to feel proud. We have to limit the mistakes of the last few games, but I think we can do well tonight.”

Missing the goal?

“At this moment, we need a group reaction. I don’t think we’re going through a very difficult time, honestly. Two not-so-great results, but two good performances to start from.”

On Napoli…

“Napoli have strong players in all departments. Kvara is unpredictable, Raspadori and Politano are strong. We have to be careful, but we also have our weapons and it will be a good match.”

Kick-off is scheduled for 20:45 CET and Milan will be looking to make it four consecutive league wins away at Napoli for the first time in their history. However, it will not be an easy game for Pioli’s men, especially considering the many absences.
