MN: A 206-day wait ends as Bennacer will return to the Milan squad

By Oliver Fisher -

News that has been a long time coming can now be confirmed: Ismael Bennacer will be part of the matchday squad for the next game.

MilanNews reports that after 206 long days, Bennacer is ready to return to Stefano Pioli’s squad for the match scheduled for tomorrow evening against Frosinone at San Siro.

The Algerian midfielder has been out since May 10, when he suffered a post-traumatic lesion of the cartilage of the lateral femoral condyle of his right knee in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Inter.

A few days later, Bennacer was operated on in Lyon by Doctor Bertrand Sonnery Cottet and that started a long road to recovery – six months to be precise – which he has ploughed through.

Now the time has come for Bennacer to return to the field. Bennacer has been training in the group for some time and he will be called up for the match against Frosinone tomorrow.

It remains to be seen if Pioli will give him a few minutes at the end of the game, but after six long months the most important thing is to have him back among the available players.
