MN: A hot week for the market begins – hunt for a defender is on and a sale must be made

By Oliver Fisher -

The countdown towards the end of the transfer window has begun, and it remains to be seen if it will be frantic or rather calm for Milan.

As sporting director Ricky Massara said before the game against Crotone: “This week is getting hotter and hotter. If there are opportunities, the management will be ready.”

MilanNews reports that the Rossoneri management are looking for an opportunity to sign a central defender. The budget is not the most substantial, so it will be necessary to make a virtue of necessity, or invest with a constant eye on the budget.

Milan want a centre-back that could represent a valid alternative to Romagnoli and Kjaer. The head to head is between Fofana and Nastasic, but watch out for possible surprises as Pioli’s dream remains Milenkovic.

Milan will also try to take advantage of other opportunities such as the one for Jens Petter Hauge. There is also the need to make a sale to boost liquidity, and Lucas Paqueta remains the main candidate, possibly on a loan with obligation to buy.
