MN: Atalanta midfielder four appearances away from netting Milan €3m

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are watching the situation of Atalanta’s Matteo Pessina with attention given they are set to pocket from an upcoming milestone, a report claims.

MilanNews recalls how the Primavera product Pessina went to Atalanta as part of the operation that brought wing-back Andrea Conti to the Rossoneri in the summer of 2017, but as part of that move up to Bergam there was a particular clause put in his contract.

The first part of the clause dictates that until he reaches 100 appearances with La Dea, the Rossoneri club are entitled to 50% of the proceeds from a future resale, but there is nothing just yet to suggest that he will depart in the current summer transfer window.

The second clause states that upon reaching the milestone of 100 official matches (he is currently at 96), Atalanta will then have to pay €3m to Milan and consequently the percentage on the future resale will be scrapped.

  1. Oh wow!! A whole 3m!! Oh this is amazing. What a great deal for us that we keep offloading promising young players for nothing yay!

    1. Can’t really claim that we “keep offloading” when this was done in 2017 when he was 20 years old and not really a promising player worth less than €1M at the time. Compared with Conti (who at the time was a top Serie A RB valued over €15M) who was desperately needed due to the aging Abate and unproven Calabria we had to find a solution.

If you want to complain about off-loading any talent, I’d argue that Locatelli, Cristante, or El-Sharaawy probably has caused more of a void for us recently due to the lack of players at that position.

  2. I’m hoping that out-of-nowhere someone will find Pessina interesting (Roma? Napoli?) and Atalanta will sell him for 20m 😂
