MN: Calhanoglu in form as performances draw attention – he could be Milan’s ‘extra weapon’

By Oliver Fisher -

Hakan Calhanoglu returns to Milan bang in form after his exploits over the international break with Turkey, and he is hoping to carry that into the resumption of Serie A.

As MilanNews writes, Turkey amassed 7 points in their first 3 qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup and Calhanoglu scored 2 goals and added 3 assists across those games, in addition to having scored the winner in Florence against Fiorentina before the break of course.

The Rossoneri need the best version of the playmaker in these last 10 league matches and he could be the ‘extra weapon’ as qualification for the next Champions League is within reach, but one last effort must be made and all players must contribute.

The report adds how the latest indications from Milanello suggest Calhanoglu will start as the No.10 against Samp with Alexis Saelemaekers and Ante Rebic to his right and left respectively. The Croatian returns to the field after the reduction of his disqualification, and the trio will support Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who also appeared in good shape with the national team.

Among the rumours concerning his contract renewal it must be noted that Calhanoglu is certainly one of the players being specially observed in this last part of the season. The negotiation between the club and its entourage to extend the agreement continues.
