MN: A goal after 68 seconds – Chukwueze makes his mark again in Europe

By Oliver Fisher -

Just 68 seconds passed from when Samuel Chukwueze entered the pitch to when he raised his arms to celebrate after the winning goal against Newcastle last night.

MilanNews reports that Chukwueze’s goal is the second-fastest scored by a substitute in this Champions League after the one scored yesterday by Francisco Conceicao in Porto against Shakhtar which came after 46 seconds.

The Nigerian’s introduction, together with those of Luka Jovic and Noah Okafor, was decisive for Milan’s victory at Newcastle. It’s a shame that this goal didn’t help the Rossoneri reach the Champions League round of 16, but it was still important because it allows them stay in Europe and participate in the second phase of the Europa League.

It is the second goal of the season for Chukwueze, and both have come in the Champions League where he seems to have less difficulty being decisive than in the Italian league, at least so far anyway.

Immediately after yesterday’s match, there was a bit of concern because at the final whistle the winger – who arrived at Milanello on a permanent deal from Villarrreal in the summer – immediately returned to the changing rooms, touching his knee flexor muscle.

Fortunately, his condition does not cause concern and therefore on Sunday against Monza he will be available to Stefano Pioli against Monza, and he might even get a start.
