An important summer awaits for Lorenzo Colombo as he aims to convince AC Milan that his immediate future should be with them, a report claims.
MilanNews reports that while there has still been no official announcement from the club, it has already been decided that Milan will buy Colombo back from Lecce for €3.5m after they used their €2.5m option to buy.
As confirmed by Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino, the Salentini will earn €1.5-1.7m in benefits from the operation, while the Rossoneri will bring a very talented young striker back to base by spending a small amount.
Colombo will play in the European Championships with Italy U21s and then he will join Stefano Pioli’s squad for summer training. There are many ideas circulating regarding the 21-year-old, some of which revolve around what happens to Ante Rebic and Divock Origi.
It cannot be ruled out that Colombo may remain with the Rossoneri next season. He played 34 times for Lecce in 2022-23, scoring six goals and providing two assists for his team-mates.
He could stay as a third option or as a deputy to Olivier Giroud in the case of an absolute emergency where no striker arrives, even if the most probable hypothesis at the moment is still that of a new loan spell.
Hopefully he gets a chance, it can’t get worse than origi
