AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has made a specific request to the club regarding the captain’s armband, a report claims.
It was reported last month by Tuttosport (via MilanLive) that Milan’s strategy to get Donnarumma to renew his current contract is to propose a long-term contract with the prospect of becoming captain.
Donnarumma would be the second Milan goalkeeper to wear the armband after Christian Abbiati, and CEO Ivan Gazidis could give Gigio the chance to lead the team he grew up in.
However, Luca Serafini’s latest editorial for MilanNews provides an update on that particular rumours, claiming that Gigio has explicitly asked for the captain’s armband to remain on Romagnoli’s arm.
This is of course contrary to the hypothesis that he would ask for the captaincy or even be offered it by the club, while the same report adds that he will sign an extension until 2023 with everything practically agreed.
