MN: €10m Ligue 1 striker in Milan’s sights as Kaio Jorge alternative – a profile on the player

By Oliver Fisher -

In what seems to be a revolving door of transfer links, the latest AC Milan target is reportedly Randal Kolo Muani of FC Nantes.

According to MilanNews, Kaio Jorge seems destined to join Juventus from Santos either this summer or in the winter window on a free transfer, which is why Milan have shifted focus as they look for a young striker to grow alongside Ibrahimovic and Giroud. They have targeted another young talent in Kolo Muani, a 22-year-old striker who joined the Nantes youth academy in 2015.

He made his debut as a teenager in November 2018 but was set on loan to FC Boulogne in the French third division where he had the opportunity to play more consistently, and after a good season back in Ligue 1 he is attracting the attention of several clubs including Milan.

Milan could have an advantage as he would find former team-mate Ciprian Tatarusanu who was at Nantes in the 2018-19 season as well as Pierre Kalulu, with whom he has just shared a dressing room with in Tokyo at the Olympics with France.

The Rossoneri’s eyes are on him, observing the situation with great attention, and Kolo is valued €10m by Nantes but has a contract expiring in 2022 and therefore Nantes could be satisfied with an even lower figure to avoid losing him for free. Before accelerating their pursuit though, a sale would be needed.

As for his characteristics as a footballer, the report describes him as a modern striker with great physicality, good in aerial duels, explosive speed, to the extent that he can be deployed even as a winger. Those who coached him in recent years talk of his unselfish play as Kolo does not think only of scoring, but also of creating opportunities for his team-mates.

  1. OK. I do not understand: why pay 5-6 mil for Muani when you can keep Colombo. I do not see any difference between the two. What is the rationale?

    1. Well let me explain. Milan hates italians and hates their own players and they have a fascination with young french boys… creepy? Yes. But this is Milan. Going to have to start pronouncing our club name with a french accent soon enough… what a joke.

We will spend 10 on this joke but not 5-6 on Kaio, or spend nothing and develop our own Colombo… awful Milan… just awful….

      1. Yeah those are exactly my feelings.
Kaio scored in a big tournament like libertadores and plays for a big club santos.
Whereas milan target players from not even ligue 1

      2. In terms of capital gains this is strange. Why not invest in own academy products and in their developing (like Colombo, Pobega, Maldini) and prefer to make investments in similar products such as Kaio, Muani, BaloToure etc etc Additionally, I do not understand why did they sell Tatarusanu and make Plizzari the second keeper. Plizzari was said a few years ago to be at least as good as Donarumma.

    1. Because Maldini and Gazidis have a weird french fetish… I don’t even want to know what happens in the locker rooms…..
