AC Milan will soon welcome Emerson Royal as their third signing of the summer window and the terms of the deal have been confirmed, in addition to the number he has chosen.
According to what is being reported by MilanNews, the Emerson Royal deal was finally unblocked this morning , with Milan and Tottenham reaching an agreement for the permanent transfer of the right-back.

The London club will collect around €15m plus bonuses for Emerson, with the Brazilian expected in Italy in the next few hours for the usual medical checks and to sign the contract at Casa Milan. He will join Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic as the third signing of the summer.
The report adds that the former Barcelona and Real Betis man has also chosen his shirt number: he will wear number 22, the iconic number that his compatriot Ricardo Kaká wore during the 2000s with the Rossoneri.
Paulo Fonseca has the right-back that he requested at the start of the summer, and the idea is that he can compete with Davide Calabria for the starting spot.
He could potentially even be the long-term replacement for him if the Italian moves on at the end of his current contract, which expires in 11 months.

like it or not I think Calabria would be one of the best defensive fullbacks if given chance. I’m not saying he doesn’t have to develop but if we judge a fish on how it climbs the tree it just doesn’t make sense. He needs to work on speed and short passes but other than that I think Calabria is a no-brainer in our starting 11, his 1v1 is that good.

I believe that most of Emerson’s problems at Tottenham occured because he was bought to play in a back 4 but then Tottenham switched to a back 5. Calabria offers a pretty low baseline.
Then again, Sergiño Dest didn’t work out at Milan, and he’s a much better player than both Calabria and Emerson. Football is odd sometimes.

Sergiño Dest better? no, maybe he got more technical ability but he is far from better overall. Both Calabria and Royal is much more physical, and that is one thing Royal brings size and pace. There are games where Calabria and Florenzi gets bullied by teams like Inter and Atalanta who have physically gifted players attacking wide.
Royal is not the best in the world but I have a gut feeling he will prove alot of people here wrong
Dest was a classic hit and miss.
We panicked while looking for a Theo type of player. But the reason was Pioli who didn’t give his trust to Dalot even though he was better than Calabria in the second half of the season, he remained second best.
He rejected us, went back to Man U and is doing great there. Wish we kept him, would have solved our RB issues effortlessly. Dest was a panic buy.

The mistake Emerson made was joining Tottenham just like ancelotti did. If Madrid can give Carlo a benefit of doubt, I see no reason why fans find it hard to do.

Altought he gas Milan DNA bla bla,the day he leaves the first team or the club will a be a good day for Milan,trust me.The only problem is finding a better replacment,hopefully Emerson can prove the haters wrong,i belive too.
And about Calabria being the Captain ,from the Primavera bla bla,Abate was also promoted with 16 by Ancelloti but he was also never a TOP RB,if Milan wants to win it all like it used to be we need a TOP RB,Calabria is not the choice.
