AC Milan seem to battle at least one injury crisis every season and 2023-24 is no different, with three names added to the list after last night’s draw against Napoli.
The first to come off last night was Pierre Kalulu, who started over the suspended Malick Thiaw but suffered a thigh issue, with Marco Pellegrino coming on to replace him. Then, at half-time it became apparent that Christian Pulisic had been withdrawn, before Pellegrino himself then came off with an ankle sprain.

MilanNews recall that there have been 19 injuries this season so far of which 12 are have been muscle problems. Of those 12, there are four who have a recovery time of more than a month: Kalulu, Krunic, Loftus-Cheek and Sportiello, while waiting to see when Chukwueze will return.
Of the muscle injuries, all except that of the Nigerian occurred at Milanello or in a match. This is the month-by-month breakdown:
➤ August: 2 muscle injuries
➤ September: 4 muscle injuries
➤ October: 6 muscle injuries

Who is in charge of training and who is in charge of recovery. Have those two ever been in a same room? Same city or even planet?
Blind person can see that neither work nor do they work together.
Injuries can determine entire seasons and no amount of ‘depth’ can help a team that loses first team players.
We simply have to get on top of this. It probably needs to be the main focus instead of signing more candidates for the treatment table….
Getting a handle on this is like signing more players.
We have had a dreadful record with muscle injuries the past 6 or 7 years at least.
So it’s 8 in November. Great…
On top of a terrible medical staff we doubled down and bought injury prone players like RLC, Pulisic, Okafor and Chukwueze. 2 of those were bought for being key starters and they’re both injured. Injury proned players getting injured , what a surprise
