MN: Furlani returns to Italy from the USA to work on transfer negotiations

By Oliver Fisher -

Giorgio Furlani will not stay with the AC Milan squad for the rest of their tour of the United States because he has returned to Italy, a report claims.

According to what MilanNews are reporting, Furlani has returned to Milan from the USA to closely follow the transfer negotiations. The CEO left last Thursday for New York together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paulo Fonseca’s team and attended the 3-2 win over Manchester City.

However, he is back in Italy to continue working on the mercato alongside technical director Geoffrey Moncada, and the reason for his return is probably because he has approval powers when it comes to signings and sales, in addition to owner Gerry Cardinale of course.

While in the US, Furlani was interviewed by Bloomberg TV and he said: “Our ambition is to fight for the Scudetto every year and to be competitive in the Champions League too. Now we want to do it by implementing a sustainability strategy.

“I’ll give you an example: two years ago the balance sheet for the first time in 17 years did not record any losses, and last year we repeated this important result, and I don’t think anything like this has ever happened to Milan.

“We are not forced to sell players due to a lack of capital or cash flow problems, so we don’t need to sell anyone. So as a fan I can tell you that you don’t have to worry about Maignan and Theo.”

Milan’s second signing of the summer should be Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg, but the management will not stop there and continue to work on three fronts, to add at least one midfielder and a right-back.

  1. What also happened was our worst title defence in our history and failing to qualify for the CL. A Juve sanction saved their skin. In reality that was a complete disgrace. The CL semis was due to easier draws and Napoli having injured players.

Then we got knocked out of the CL early. Lost in the Coppa and were humiliated by Inter repeatedly. This is nothing to clamour about and cause for concern. Here he his tooting his horn about finances when we were allowed to declare losses without being sanctioned.

    1. Hahaha so what ever we do its because of luck or other teams failure? But when we get beaten its because we suck? Hahahhaha

      1. We have good pieces in place. The team is decent. It is a far cry from where it needs to be.

Ibra and Giroud left since we won something and looked ready to transition. We need more than Morata up front. Their replacements are going to need to cost more than 13 million euros.

        We haven’t replaced Kessie.

Kjaer left, they addressed that. I can applaud the move they just made there.

There has to be urgency and not imbecility about sustainability being thrown in the air. Clubs in France spent 125 million euros this window. We dwarf their income by a mile.

This team was nowhere near good enough in Europe. I think we deserve to have people in place who take pride in our club. This window has two signings and the seasons starts in a couple of weeks. The team isn’t reinforced yet. He ahould be in a office closing deals not yapping to cameras about how he did a great job because he didn’t. We didn’t even complete the bare minimum deals we need to get a squad that will make it into the second round of the CL.

      1. Milan brings me joy, this man’s incompetence is flagrant and he is completely out of his depth. His comments are delusional. I do go out and enjoy life, this team is in dire need of improvement. He thinks otherwise.

        1. He’s helped closed deals for most of our targets in the last 3 windows, the squad has improved greatly so WTF are you complaining for? Because you have such a poor understanding of football that you think Furlani controls the budget and salaries?

      1. No he went to offer City 16.2 million in 70 installments to be paid once our stadium is built, for Haaland. He is convinced he is only a couple euros away in bonuses from closing the deal because their sustainable valuations must be met by all clubs and players since we made a profit two years running.

He is in no rush because there is no reason to spend more on players.

  2. It’s embarrassing that so called fans have such a poor understanding of how things work. Furlani doesn’t control the budget or salaries. Stop looking for scapegoats and accept the financial situation of Milan and other Serie A clubs.
