MN: Giroud and Origi recover but Rebic will start vs. Udinese – the probable XI

By Oliver Fisher -

Some good news has arrived from AC Milan’s final training session ahead of the game against Udinese at San Siro tomorrow as two strikers are back to fitness.

According to MilanNews, both Olivier Giroud – who was still working separately yesterday after suffering from some muscle fatigue – and Divock Origi did training with the rest of the team and will be called up for tomorrow’s match against Udinese to begin the 2022-23 season.

However, neither are fit enough to start the game and therefore they will obviously be on the bench from the first minute, ready to come on and make an impact in the latter stages of the game.

That means Ante Rebic will be tasked with leading the line again, hoping to continue on from what was a very encouraging preseason campaign during which he looked back to his best condition.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo; Bennacer, Krunic; Messias, Díaz, Leao; Rebic.

    1. In the article it is clearly written that he is not fit enough so he won’t risk it and start on the bench.. And in my opinion, Ante can go through Udine’s defense.. Why can’t he..?

  1. Maybe Giroud will play for 10-15 minutes at the end. When I see Krunic and Diaz in the starting 11 I always wonder why we keep these 2 useless players.

  2. Rebic can score on anyone. He scored on Liverpool and Juventus last season. Hopefully Messias carries his good form he had over preseason into this match; but if he returns to the inconsistent player that he was for much of last season, then at halftime, Pioli should shift Rebic to RW and put Origi or Giroud up top.

Hopefully we see CDK replace Diaz at halftime.

  3. I believe Messias will be better than his first season at Milan. His goal with his left foot in preseason is a very food good one

  4. Giroud is the man for me ,and as a CF he is best ..
of course that depends if he is fit ..I love Giroud very much ,technical ability is world class ,,he has plenty of goals in him ,..write him off at your peril ..I said that when we AC Milan signed him we would win the scuddeto, and indeed we did ,much more to come from this AC Milan team ,and yes I believe we can win honours again this season ..Just ask Olivier ,he has great belief in his ability and so have I .
