MN: Guidelines for Rangnick’s first mercato at Milan laid out; budget unknown at present

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not yet set a finalised budget for the summer transfer window but they are ready to entrust Ralf Rangnick with it, it is claimed.

According to MilanNews journalist Andrea Longoni’s latest editorial, Milan have still set no real budget for the next summer market.

A lot will depend on sales with regards to the savings on salary and any revenue generated from transfer fees. However, there are guidelines in place, such as targeting young players with low salaries, and with not too high-cost fees.

Young players who are hungry and, hopefully, have the right mentality in addition to the qualities. The Leao case is emblematic: it is true that it is only in the first season and it is too early to write the 20-year-old off, but the Portuguese is the classic example of how without the right attitude things can go poorly.

The report adds that Ralf Rangnick has proven to be an excellent talent scout and the hope is that he can do that at Milan too. Many players linked to the Rossoneri are not exactly household names, it is important to note that we may be about to enter a transfer market where little money will circulate, so ideas and intuitions will make the difference.
