MN: Participants and qualifiers – how the 2024-25 Champions League picture currently looks

The Champions League will change in quite a big way next season, and we can begin to draw some projections regarding how the first phase might look.

We provided a comprehensive look at how the Champions League will alter in view of 2024-25, but the main points are the fact that there will no longer be a group stage but rather a big league, plus expansion to 36 teams.

There will be a single tournament, with participants having a guaranteed minimum of eight games. It will not only be the league position that determines the qualifiers, but also the path of each individual federation in this current season in European competitions.

At the end of it, the best two leagues in terms of ranking points will have one more extra qualification place and as things currently stand it is Italy and Germany.
