By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina is closing in on completing a move to Premier League side Aston Villa, according to multiple reports.

Mirko Calemme of Calciomercato.it is reporting that the Spaniard’s agent is currently negotiating with Milan regarding a potential move for his client to Aston Villa.

Personal terms have already been agreed: the former Liverpool man will join the Midlands club on a six-month deal with an option for another year that would be activated automatically if Premier League status is retained.

The Spanish goalkeeper is close to leaving the Rossoneri and securing a return to England after 18 months at San Siro, MilanNews.it claims, which will provide some financial respite for Milan.

The report claims that the Diavolo will save almost €10million gross thanks to the departure of the 37-year-old, whose contract is set to expire in June 2021.

The former Liverpool man currently receives €3m net per year, which is around €5,550,000m gross annually. As a result, the via Aldo Rossi club will therefore save a total of exactly €8,325,000m.
