MN: Ibrahimovic to extend Milan stay – announcement and contract signing both ‘really close’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are close to being able to announce that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be staying for at least another season, according to a report.

There is no doubting that Ibrahimovic is continuing to prove his critics wrong as at the age of 39 he is showing himself to be decisive. He has 15 goals in 15 Serie A appearances and but for some unfortunate muscle injuries, he could very well have powered the team into a commanding lead at the top of the table.

With his contract set to expire in June, there is an abundance of speculation claiming that the Swede will sign a new one-year extension which ensured he will remain at Milan into his 40s and – all being well – lead the team back into the Champions League.

According to the latest from MilanNews, the Swede is moving towards a one-year renewal with Milan and ‘the announcement is really close’. The report adds how in a few days he will sign the contract, keeping the current salary with the inclusion of bonuses for objectives such as goals and appearances.
