MN: ‘Leao risks getting lost like Niang’ – Milan expect answers from the Portuguese forward

By Oliver Fisher -

One player who has certainly not had the best of times in 2021 is undoubtedly forward Rafael Leao, who continues to give inconsistent performances.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes ‘Waiting for Leao’ – which is not the title of a film, but the reality of the facts as Milan are still waiting for the Portuguese forward to “explode” on the pitch. He is young and has great potential, but in these two seasons in Italy he has not been able to grow and mature into being a consistent player.

Beyond the purely technical-tactical aspect and the fact that the jimp from Ligue 1 to our Serie A is never easy, the paper claims that Leao’s attitude that is not the right one as the 22-year-old has been decidedly indolent to many, with too many opportunities granted to him by Stefano Pioli and thrown away with seriously insufficient performances.

Tuttosport also writes that Leao is beginning to head down the same path as M’Baye Niang, who also joined the Rossoneri with the label of being a certified top talent but fell by the wayside. Milan’s hope, of course, is that Rafa will not retrace the career of his Franco-Senegalese colleague. ‘Leao risks getting lost like Niang’, the headline reads.
