MN: Maldini and Botman pushing for Milan move – why Lille are holding things up

By Oliver Fisher -

Sven Botman is pushing to join AC Milan but it is not a foregone conclusion that the Lille defender will get his ideal move, a report claims.

MilanNews report that Milan are trying again with their attempts to sign Botman having gone after him in the summer and in particular it is technical director Paolo Maldini who is pushing for the Dutchman. He considers him to be talent that justifies an important investment not only for the future, but also for the present.

In recent days Botman was interviewed by Dutch TV while away with the Netherlands U21 side and he broke into a big smile when asked about the idea of joining Milan, making it clear he strongly wants the move and said he hoped that the deal could be closed quickly.

Botman has had an agreement with Milan for a long time over personal terms on a five-year deal and he is rejecting all the other proposals that come to him, in particular from Newcastle who are pushing strongly.

However, Lille are hoping to sell Botman to a Premier League club at a higher amount so even if the 22-year-old’s will is quite clear to everyone, some negotiating must be done to get all parties in agreement.
