MN: Maldini beating Man Utd and RB Leipzig to €4m deal already looking like a masterstroke

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are beginning to feel more and more like they have struck gold with the signing of Jens Petter Hauge given his performances since joining.

We were the first to report that Milan had taken concrete steps to sign Hauge after he impressed for Bodo/Glimt during their 3-2 defeat against the Rossoneri in the Europa League third qualifying round.

As MilanNews reports, it was the intuition of the scouting department and the determination of Maldini and Massara that were the key to signing Hauge in a deal worth just €4million.

The Norwegian had been followed by Milan’s scouts already in the months prior to the purchase, both with the national team and with Glimt, but then everything fell into place.

Manchester United, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg all sent offers, but Milan managed to win the race thanks to the player’s preference, after he was struck by the dialogue with Paolo Maldini.

To date Hauge has already contributed to 4 goals in 8 games with the Milan shirt between Serie A and Europa League, with 3 goals and an assist. Since June (when the season started in Norway) Hauge has scored 20 goals.

He is growing with every game, and the beautiful goals against Napoli and Celtic show that the hard work at Milanello is being perfectly combined with his natural flair.

He is still learning Pioli’s game system, and also a few words of Italian as he revealed: “I work a lot with my Italian teacher, I hope to speak better soon, I’m working to improve.”
