MN: Milan and Chelsea in stand-off over €20m midfielder – why the Blues are at risk

By Oliver Fisher -

Tiemoue Bakayoko is AC Milan’s first choice to reinforce the midfield, a report claims, but Chelsea are not making things easy.

According to a report from MilanNews, Bakayoko is not part of the plans of Frank Lampard who already has N’Golo Kanté as his ideal defensive midfielder, meaning that the 26-year-old will be allowed to leave this summer.

However, the Blues would like to make some money from the sale of the Frenchman, and three years after his €40m purchase from Monaco they have set a €20m price tag, but it must be paid up front immediately.

Of course now Chelsea are also running a risk, as they may have to welcome back an unhappy player who is not part of their plans for preseason preparations, and his value then would only go down further.

What makes the difference is the will of the player himself, who declared that he has the Rossoneri in his heart. In Pioli’s 4-2-3-1 he could be paired with both Kessié and with Bennacer, and he seems like the ideal profile for Stefano Pioli to welcome.
