MN: A €30m+ January ‘dream’ – Milan identify Kjaer’s potential replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a ‘winter dream’ that they will try until the end of the January transfer window to make a reality: the signing of Alessandro Buongiorno.

According to what is being reported by Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews, the next 15 days will tell us whether it will remain just an unfulfilled wish or if there will be an ‘incredible twist’ that works in Milan’s favour.

At the moment the chances of seeing Buongiorno make the move to Milan are very few. The reason? Torino currently want over €30m to sell their captain, while their president Urbano Cairo has shown in the past that he will retain players even at the cost of losing out financially at a later time.

The Andrea Belotti case teaches us that negotiating with him and with the Granata is not easy. Milan are trying, but they will not be able to satisfy the figures requested by Cairo in January.

If, however, Toro were open to a ‘quid pro quo’ to lower the cost – such as Lorenzo Colombo going the other way as a counterpart – then something could move.

If Milan fail to sign Buongiorno in January, they will try again in the summer. With Simon Kjaer’s possible departure (his contract expires in June), the Rossoneri will need to invest in a new central defender.

  1. I said I wasn’t going to comment on transfers but we’re never going to build a 500 game, European dominating defensive partnership if keep signing f*#king CBs.

  2. There are more CB out there you don’t need to spend a whole month on one player while Napoli just got two supposed players we target . (Hamed junior traore and Cyril ngonge) I think we need to bring back maldini and massara because I don’t think they would bring a CB CDM and past giroud era ST

  3. We will not sign him. we keep the rumours till the end of January and then its over and we are satisfied with Gabbia or we take the on CB from Sevilla who doesnt play a lot

  4. I dont think a 30 m is a right price for this average defender, let cairo have him, there is still better italiano out there than this one…., next season w/ tomori, thiaw, gabbia, simic n terraciano our cb is good enough, so lets spend those 30 m to another am i think….

  5. We don’t have left footed CB. He will be starting next to Tomori. BUT, we can sign Brassier now for 10. Get Buongiorno in summer. Then our CBs next season will be: Tomori (Thiaw), Boungiorno (Brassier), with Simic, Gabbia as 3rd strings and we are set. OR: get Scalvini (15m+CDK) and sell Kalulu and use that money for a CF.

  6. You know what this smells like? Teen Spirit! j/k…

Seems like if Buongiorno comes on, we are building for 3 at the back with Tomori and Thiaw and wingbacks. And you know what that means….

    1. I would love for Conte to come. We need a serious coach at the helm. If we switch to back 3, we need to get a new Rwb bec Calabria is a pain to watch. Chalobah would be a nice upgrade :p
We also need to figure out how to use Leao bec he flunked without being Lwg in 433.
