AC Milan have held a long-term interest in Samuele Ricci, but they are not the only club aware of the young midfielder’s talent, and the Rossoneri will face competition from Manchester City.
Since the turn of the year, Milan have been obsessed with the idea of revamping the midfield. In recent times, the area has been continuously scrutinised for several reasons, and even though the Rossoneri signed Youssouf Fofana in the summer, there are suggestions that the midfield is not a finished product.
Yesterday, it was claimed that the Diavolo lost against Bayer Leverkusen due to a lack of depth, and this brought to light the topic of the midfield. Perhaps, Milan will try to rectify the issue in the January window – the obvious choice would be Ricci.
The midfielder is certainly not an unknown quality to the Rossoneri, and he has been impressing in Serie A for some time now. A year ago, it is believed that Torino were asking for €25 million to sign their young talent, but that figure is closer to €40m now.
After spending so heavily on Fofana this summer, the Diavolo could be reluctant to spend so much again on a midfielder, but with Milan News reporting that Manchester City are interested in the youngster, it could be a now-or-never opportunity.
Pep Guardiola is reportedly ‘crazy’ about the player, and €40m would be an easy figure to part with for such a player.

Funny
Current Milan will never sign an italian player. So it’s never a competition.
As you see with the Italian nation team. Italian players aren’t top tier like the used to be.
The Italian team is doing just fine, they beat France recently so not sure what you are saying. Anyway from which nationality do you think we should be buying players since you judge induvidual players based on how their national team performs ?
Not what I said. But glorifying someone for their nationality is stupid. And winning one game is also stupid. As we saw in the European Championship, they are not quality.
Can never win anything without homegrown and local players. Check the history we never won without Italians in team…
What’s really stupid is judging individual players on how their national team performed. Also that Italy generation that weren’t quality according to you cause of their performance at the European Championship, won the previous won. Something that 99 percent of the other teams have never done.
That’s the Italy team that won the Euros a few years back and broke an international record for an unbeaten run?
Most players of that side are either too old/retired right now or injured in a way that robbed them of their best years.
The 2020 (or rather 2021) Euro winner is no longer relevant and we’re not getting any player from that side.
The players in ac Milan were just bencher in Chelsea Tottenham Villarreal, Some italians are better than our current players, don’t forget the match that opposed France VS Italy last month
The point is the country of Italy can clearly produce footballers.
But keep making excuses for failure….whatever gets you through the night.
I think Milan should go all out for Ricci, Rios and David, these players will raise the level of Milan’s squad, push it to be the best in seria A, if we are serious about our own stadium, we need to make statement on the pitch, the 3 aforementioned players have experience and are all young, would fit well with our ethos
Joke targets. Not a single one of them would raise our lvl
Game over, if Cairo’s asking price had not already ended it.
We’re definitely going to outbid them.
ac milan are allergic to italians we wont buy him.
Why should Milan overspend on Italians ?
Because it is Italian club ?
Let just remember the biggest prices Milan paid for Caldara and Bonucci and some relatively smaller prices for biggest stars who played for club.
Not all big spending are going to be successful.
You chose well your examples to make your point haha Pippo or Nesta were paid a high price and it turned out pretty well. And it’s not overspending when it’s the value of the player. The best players cost the most. Football 101. We already know what you can have for 15-20M€…
What the hell is wrong with this team.
As an Italian team, they should build the backbone with Italian player. They know better to represent their country’s team. Unlike outsiders.
Everybody making such a big deal that he’s Italian. Loom at the national team. They haven’t been relevant in years. So clearly other nations players are higher quality. Overpaying on someone because they’re Italian is embarrassingly ignorant
As someone already pointed out, they just beat France, and also won the Euros recently. Only England, France and Spain consistently produce great players. That Man City are interested in Ricci makes your views irrelevant.
They haven’t qualified for the world cup since 2014. Let’s stop overhyping beating France one time in the Nations league, that no one cares about.m. Also never said he wasn’t quality. I said making a bigger deal out of someone just because they are Italian is stupid.
So you’re saying that Italy produce worse players than Bulgaria, Northern Ireland or North Macedonia?
Because the reason we didn’t go the last World Cup is because we failed to beat these teams. So they must be better, right?
Or football doesn’t quite work like that.
I mean it’s one thing to randomly rate players as ‘hot’ or ‘not’ but to write off an entire footballing nation of 60m people as ‘not’ really seems to be a bit far fetched.
Clearly Italy (or anywhere) is capable of producing footballers. The issue is that Italy is not doing enough to develop the many thousands of players it is producing. And the main reason for that is because they don’t get to play.
It’s pretty bloody hard to become a top player if you never play.
Again. Not what I said. What I said was glorifying a player simply because they are Italian is stupid. But reading comprehension is clearly lacking here.
You said that the Italian team hasn’t been ‘relevant’ in years…
Nobody’s glorifying anything.
But it’s a bit stupid going to the other side of the world to look for something that literally exists in your own youth teams.
And the thing about youth teams is that they consist of players who have played together for years, and are close to the clubs
They don’t even need to be Italian. Just not one of the thousands of players we have signed in the last 10 years that ended up staying at the club for 5 mins.
That I agree with 100%. We’re one of the teams that loan out or sell every youth talent we have instead of giving them an actual chance. I agree with that 100%
He’s a flop, lmao…
« After spending so heavily on Fofana this summer »
🤣🤣🤣
are you saying ricci will perform better than fofana if we had gone for Ricci. i respect your view sometimes but you always chase the wrong clout.
Ricci will be a good add but he doesn’t worth 40$M
Well Ricci is more of a DM. Fofana is more offensive and we’re trying to make him more defensive.
Ricci would been more natural for the role and him being italian will allow us to register him without sacrificing another player.
And I say even getting him right now will allow Fofana to play more like he usually does and Ricci will take care of the defense.
Cardinale doesn’t spend over 15-20m usually. This player is out. Plus hardly a one Italian on this Italian club. The Italian futuros will likely be sold So we can bring in over the hill players like morata and Abraham
No, they won’t. You’re almost always wrong, you’d think you’d have learned by now.
“After spending so heavily on Fofana this summer”
If you say so.
Well isn’t Ricci just a case in point of where we need FOCUS.
Rather than wasting millions on the numerous signings over the past 2 seasons (and more) if we had just signed Ricci and nobody else we’d be in a better position.
All we needed was a midfielder to replace Tonali (who we sold for no reason).
But nope, we’ve signed an entire 1-11 of players in the past 2 summers alone:
Sportiello
Emerson Royal Pavlović Pellegrino Terracciano
Chukwueze Reijnders Musah RLC Okafor
Jović
to name but a few.
Now clearly I am only including Sportiello because I need a goalie, and no doubt some of the above are controversial….but are they?
How has the above entire starting 11 of players improved our Scudetto winning side?
How has the vast number of signings we have made in just 2 seasons (and there were many more before that under Maldini) actually improved the side?
Let me tell you what will happen. Toro want €40 million – milan will offer €10 million – toro will say no way – milan will continue to offer €10 million for five weeks – toro will continue to say no way – milan will offer €15 million and say ricci wants to join milan – toro will say no way – after 3 weeks milan will offer €18 million + Bartesaghi +Zeroli – toro will say no way – meantime man city will offer €45 million – toro are willing to accept – milan now offer €20 million + Bartesaghi + Zeroli + some unknown boy – toro say no way – milan again say Ricci only wants to join them – ricci joins man city and says how happy he is to join them – milan are silent and sulk for 3 weeks …….
Ha ha. Brilliant..
he has a year on his contract. nobody will offer 40M for him in the summer. Not even 30M
…But no worries, here’s Chukwuemeka for 18 millions + bonuses.
Torino is asking 25ml i don’t know where it comes from that 40ml everyone reporting
But how? How can he replace Rodri, one of the best midfielders of today’s game, when he’s just a subpar Italian from the subpar Italian generation?
😂 🤣 😂
Top sarcasm
