MN: Milan poised to earn money from Monza signing

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are set to make some money from the deal that will take Matteo Pessina to Monza on a permanent basis in the summer, a report claims.

As has been pointed out by Milan News, the player who is currently on loan at Monza from Atalanta is set to sign for the Brianzoli permanently in the summer.

There is an obligation for Monza to make the deal permanent in the summer for a fee of €15 million. This benefits Milan as the Rossoneri made sure that they will receive 50% of any future sale when they let Pessina join Atalanta as part of the Andrea Conti deal in 2017.

It will be a very welcome boost for the Rossoneri to receive €7.5 million, enough to fund a year of Rafael Leao’s potential new contract should the Portuguese forward renew his deal in the near future.

Pessina has been captain for Monza, his local team, ever since he joined.

  1. These are tiny sums of money in modern football parlance. Are Redbird serious owners, or are they just sweating the asset?

    1. We have a saying in denmark that roughly translated sounds something like this “many little brooks make a great stream”, every dollar added is always good news in my view but this income is due to the chinese ownership but overall milan has tried to break even in finances in recent years so if it helps there fine with me. If we do qualify for cl next year i would expect a somewhat better transfer sum made available this coming summer due to our sporting success in cl and besides of that cardinale also needs to make some kind of statement after his and red birds arrival.

      1. Problem is if you spend money, it doesn’t mean you spent it correctly. You can compare Thiaw versus Charles DK. Thiaw is much cheaper, but made bigger impact in season.
It is more important to invest money smart. Sometimes you need to lose couple of season, to gain some kind of clearance. Specially on transfer market.

        1. never said otherwise, ill allways favour a cheaper deal if possible as it adds to the finances in savings its pretty much the same with quality compared to quantity. If we can strike great cheap deals compared to over paying for expenssive hyped deals why would we want to over spend.
But each dollar added is good in my book and cant see no reason why it wouldnt be percieved so,
Im not expecting a huge influx of cash but hopefully we will at least be able to spend 25-30 mil more if we qualify for cl but yeah the money should be invested wisely.

        2. Give the lad a break. Kessie first 2 season was horrible, Bakayoko was even performing better than him in his first loan. Same goes for Hakan, he had maybe 2 good of not decent season at AC Milan.
But everyone forgot how bad they flopped in the beginning

      2. I honestly don’t think it matters what we make from CL – Redbird/Elliot’s policy is to be frugal and spend on lower cost younger players. This will not change IMO even if we were to somehow perform a miracle and win CL. They will not deviate from that policy and start spending bigger. 50M per year is likely what we should expect. Pretty disappointing but that is the model. I pray I am wrong but I just don’t see it.

        1. We’ll see but i certainly expect more cash made available as the squad needs some revamping while we also need some upgrades. Considering we are close to breaking even and we have been playing for full stadium all season and our unexpected run in cl id say it would be greatly disapointing if we dont see some actions taken by the ownership.

  2. That’s not how wage budgets work. Wages have to be fully funded through the duration of contracts so if there’s an increase in funding it has to cover all the years. It’s similar to discretionary and non-discrectionay, where you must fulfill non-disc funding first as they are required payments first. But I get what they’re trying to say.

  3. Maybe just 7,5m euro but that already can be used to buy theo back up . Every euro we get from academy player are worth.
