MN: Milan’s fluidity and attacking weapons on display against Torino

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan put on a show last night at San Siro as they put four goals past Torino and made it two wins from two to start the season.

MilanNews talk about the depth of attacking options that Stefano Pioli has at his disposal, with Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic the starting trio, then Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze able to enter from the bench.

A player that must also be considered is Theo Hernandez, who scored again yesterday to open his account for the season after a gorgeous through ball from Leao.

The 4-3-3 is an over-simplified version of how Milan line up, because the team are deployed in a very attacking manner on the pitch. There isn’t a formation that can give an accurate representation with numbers, but the pitch does the talking.

Reijnders and Loftus-Cheek play high up, Pulisic is free to create, Leao is deadly on the left and Theo moves into the middle of the pitch to start the action. It is certainly a fluid Milan that leaves no points of reference.

Giroud is the only one who doesn’t swap positions or leaves the opposition chasing him. His job is to be found in the box, ready to hurt the opposition if the wingers and midfielders get into dangerous positions.

  1. Loving this new look Milan so far. “Fluidity” is definitely the right word. I could have easily seen us draw against Torino last season but now we’re just too much for them. Our first real test will be against Inter who always play like maniacs against us.

    1. Have you written off Roma completely? LOL!!! They always play us dirty and foul a lot. Could be a tough match. Although they have serious defensive insufficiencies it seems.

Inter will be a serious test. Their midfield is LEGIT. We haven’t been able to best them in a while…

  2. We played more like 4-1-2-3 but with fluidity… And that’s good.

I’m quite optimistic for the match against Roma as they aren’t in a good shape yet, but it’s true we will face a tough test against Inter.
